I had a great trip to Publix tonight, although it turned out totally different than I had planned. I was hoping to do a gas card deal while picking up dinner and a bunch of One A Day Vitamins and a few Special K Bars. Instead, I stumbled on a massive stock of Bayer Aspirin – much more than the coupons I had on me, plus almost empty shelves of the cheap One A Day.
I also found that my store still had the Tresemme clearance items. Even though my area doesn’t get Red Plum inserts, our company buys newspapers where Fred lives and they do get the Red Plums. So that’s how I have the insert coupons (for those of you who undoubtedly wonder.)
I used the in-ad store coupon for $10 off a $50 Gas Card when you buy $50 of groceries. Since those dollars were going to be spent on gas anyways, the $10 savings has been applied to the groceries for this trip. (Even without doing that, this trip was still a moneymaker.)
I probably wouldn’t have bought this much Bayer – even though the shelf was well stocked – if it had been earlier in the week. But since the coupon is about to expire, I went a little nutty on them.
Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:
ONE BOAR’S HEAD WHOLE ROAST BEEF SUB, on sale $5.99 (regular price $7.79)
No coupons used
NET PRICE: $5.99
ONE COCA-COLA 1.25L, regular price $0.99
Yes, I paid way too much for this item, but I only wanted this smaller bottle because I don’t want a bunch of extra sugar in my house!
