UPDATE: I received my $10 e-Movie Cash certificate codes by email late Monday afternoon (6/12) and had no difficulty printing them. However, please note that Internet Explorer and Firefox are recommended browsers for printing the certificates. I used Firefox. The certificates opened in Adobe, so I was able to save them and also print a copy of each one. They don’t expire until August 31, so I saved them to have a back-up in case something happened to the prints.
I went to Walgreens early Sunday morning (6/11) because I wanted the Schick razors for the free movie cash promotion. The basic deal is a good one, but I had added incentive because I had three account-specific perks to use: 1) a get 7,000 points when you spend $20 “Thank you” perk, 2) a get 3,000 points when you spend $15 “Thank you” perk, and 3) a 5x everyday point booster for being my birthday month.
I also wanted to get the 10x Balance Reward point booster coupon advertised in the weekly ad. If you look on the front of the current Walgreens weekly ad, you’ll see a promotion to get a coupon at checkout for 10x everyday points if you redeem points in a transaction. I bought two newspapers at the first Walgreens I went to today and redeemed points to pay for the papers, but did not receive a checkout coupon for 10x points. The cashier said the Catalina machine was working and called the manager. The manager looked at the promotion in the ad, but said he had no control over Catalina coupons. Then the cashier fished a Catalina out of the trash good for 5,000 Balance Reward points when you spend $20 and showed it to the manager. The manager asked me if I wanted that coupon to compensate for not getting the 10x booster coupon, and of course, I took it and used it on my first Schick transaction.
Then I went to a second Walgreens a few miles away and made another small purchase and paid with Balance Reward points. No 10x checkout coupon printed at that store, either, so the problem at the first store was not a machine issue. I made the second Schick transaction without the 10x booster coupon.
I called Walgreens’s customer service when I got home, but the rep said it was a Catalina issue and transferred my call to Catalina Marketing. After a 20-minute phone call, the Catalina rep opened two tickets and sent me an email for each one so I could upload the two receipts showing my point redemption. I don’t know how they’ll handle it, and the 5,000 points when you spend $20 coupon covered the points I would have received had I used a 10x coupon on each razor transaction, so I didn’t lose bonus points, but if you are counting on that 10x Catalina booster coupon to use on the Schick deal (or any other current Walgreens deal), be warned that the coupon did not print for me earlier today.
I am not posting the newspaper transaction at the first store, but here are the other three transactions I made at Walgreens this morning.
