I had a great trip to CVS this morning. You’ll notice that I didn’t get my free Colgate Toothpaste. That’s because I won’t get my newspaper inserts until Wednesday or Thursday, so I didn’t have the coupon when I shopped. Honestly, I have a lot of toothpaste here, even after donating about 15 tubes recently. I also had very little time to shop this morning, but I was completely out of dog food. I decided to pick up a few cans to hold me over instead of making an extra stop today.
I got a $5 Beauty Club Extra Bucks reward from the Red Coupon Machine today, so I’ve included those savings in the final statistics for this trip. I also received a 20% off coupon in my email on Thursday. The coupon is good on regular price items and deducted a total of $4.10 from these items: Calendula, Pedigree, Extra and Skintimate. Those $9.10 of savings ($5 Beauty Club and 20% off coupon) are not included with the items below, however they are factored into the final statistics for this shopping trip at the bottom of this post.
Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:
ONE PUFFS TISSUES, on sale $0.99 (reg. $1.77)

TWO PEDIGREE DOG FOOD, reg. price $1.29 (ouch!)
Used one 30% off Pet Food or Treats CVS store coupon, received at Red Coupon Machine by some (including me) a few weeks ago (deducted only $0.64 – I think because of the application of the 20% off regular price items coupon)
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $1.94 (or 97 cents each!)
***This deal was actually a little better than this, because my 20% off coupon applied to these items.
ONE GALLON OF MILK, on sale $2.79 (reg. $3.79)
Used one $1/1 Gallon of White Milk printable manufacturer’s coupon (this beeped and cashier entered manually)

NET PRICE FOR ALL: $2.44 (or 81 cents each!)
***This deal was actually a little better than this, because my 20% off coupon applied to these items. Normally I would not pay this much for gum, but I was completely out.
ONE CALENDULA BURN CREAM 1 OZ, reg. price $8.99
Get $6 Extra Bucks for buying select Calendula products (limit 1)
Get $3 cashback from Ibotta for buying Calendula Burn Cream
Used one $3/1 Calendula Burn Cream peelie found on product (some folks got $3/1 coupons in the 8/7 SS insert; fyi – the peelie beeped and had to be entered manually)
Price at Register: $5.99, but received $6 Extra Bucks and $3 cashback from Ibotta
NET PRICE: FREE + $3.01 MONEYMAKER!
***This deal was actually a little better than this, because my 20% off coupon applied to this items.
As mentioned at the top, I used a 20% off regular prices coupon I got via email on Thursday 8/25 and it deducted $4.10. I also received $5 Beauty Club Extra Bucks this week. Those additional $9.10 savings are included in the calculations below.
Total Retail Value of All Merchandise: $30.99
Net Price Paid for Everything: $6.22 PROFIT!
Savings Rate (excluding tax): 120.1%
Another way to look at the trip is to completely disregard the Beauty Club Extra Bucks earned, even though they’ve never been reflected in previous trips when earned. If you do that, my profit was just $1.22 and my savings rate was only 103.9%
In case you’re wondering, there’s no picture of this haul because we lost the original image while moving the site to a new server some time ago.
